Cabo: Go for the Sun, Stay for the Fun

Go for the Sun, Stay for the Fun.

Cabo San Lucas is the fastest growing beach destination in Mexico. Vacationers enjoy beaches, desert, the Sea of Cortez, the Pacific Ocean, fishing, golfing, shopping, nightlife, art, whale watching, and of course, the year- round fantastic weather.

Located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, Cabo San Lucas with San Jose del Cabo make up what is collectively known as Los Cabos. The two towns are linked by a 20- mile corridor lined with all-inclusive resorts, golf courses, shopping, and restaurants.

Here are seven things you will love about Cabo.

Golf: Cabo is known for the best golf in Latin America. With 15 courses designed by legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, Greg Norman, and Tiger Woods, it is no wonder Cabo is one of the leading golf destinations in the world. Golf Digest ranked two Cabo golf courses among the “Top 100 in the World.”

Beaches: The golden sand beaches of Cabo are magnificent. However, many of the beaches are not swimmable due to strong undertows and unpredictable tides. If swimming in the ocean is a priority, do your research and find out where the swimmable beaches are and if your resort has access to them.

Nightlife: Our tour guide had a saying, “What happens in Cabo, didn’t happen.” Vacationers can come to Cabo to let loose at many bars and nightclubs offering DJs, live entertainment, and dancing. I recommend a stop at Cabo Wabo (Sammy Hagar’s restaurant and nightclub) and Slim’s Elbow Room (The World’s Smallest Bar). Craft beer more your style? Cabo offers some unique breweries such as Baja Brewing Company in San Jose del Cabo.

Fishing: Known as the Marlin Capital of the World, Cabo is a leading destination for sport fishing. More marlin and swordfish are caught here than anywhere else in the world. Sport fishing tournaments such as Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin and East Cape Offshore are held in Cabo annually.

Art: I highly recommend attending the Art Walk in San Jose del Cabo which takes place every Thursday evening from November through June. You will experience native dance performances, music, and artist displays during this vibrant evening. From the Gallery District of San Jose del Cabo to glass blowing demonstrations in Cabo San Lucas, you are sure to find some inspiration.

Whale Watching: Visitors can admire Humpback Whales, Sperm Whales, and Minke Whales during whale watching season which takes place from December through mid- April.

Adventure: Looking for an adrenaline rush? ATV ride over the Wild Canyon Bridge, the longest wooden pedestrian bridge in the world. This bridge is in the UNESCO- protected Boca de Sierra National Park. Tour the Monster Zip line circuit which includes natural rock- climbing walls, crazy ladders, suspension bridges and rappelling.

Cabo is a unique destination which offers a wide variety of water and land activities for every type of traveler.
