WHY I LOVE VACATIONS AT ALL-INCLUSIVE RESORTS
If you are looking for a vacation where you can slow down, reconnect with family and friends, and leave the everyday details behind, an all-inclusive resort may be just the answer. There is something wonderfully easy about arriving at a beautiful resort, settling into your room, and knowing that so much of what you need for your vacation is already right there waiting for you.
Food. Drinks. Pools. Beaches. Activities. Entertainment. Sunshine.
All you have to do is decide how you want to spend your day.
I've stayed at more than 15 all-inclusive resorts and toured 20+ additional properties throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, and one of the things I love most is discovering how different each resort can be. Some are energetic and full of activities, while others are designed for quiet relaxation. Some are perfect for families, while others are adults-only escapes. Some are all about the beach, while others offer incredible pools, water parks, entertainment, or wellness experiences. There really is an all-inclusive vacation for just about every type of traveler.
Here are a few of the reasons I love them.
Tropical Paradise: Many all-inclusive resorts are tucked along beautiful beaches in warm destinations such as Mexico and the Caribbean. Imagine waking up, stepping onto your balcony with a cup of coffee, and looking out at the Caribbean blues. Maybe you spend the morning walking along the beach, the afternoon floating in the pool, and the evening watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand. That is my kind of vacation. And there is something special about knowing that you don't have to get in a car or make another plan to enjoy the beach. It is right outside your door, waiting for you whenever you are ready. Of course, beaches can vary quite a bit from one destination and resort to another. Some have calm, crystal-clear water perfect for swimming, while others have bigger waves or conditions that are better suited for enjoying the scenery from the shore.
Planning Is Minimal: Traveling is amazing, but getting there can take a lot of planning. An all-inclusive resort simplifies things by bringing so much of your vacation together in one place. Spend the afternoon snorkeling or paddleboarding? Go for it.Take a cooking class, play beach volleyball, try a tequila tasting, join a trivia game, or simply find a pool chair and do absolutely nothing? All options are on the table. Many resorts also include non-motorized water sports such as kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and snorkeling equipment. And that is one of my favorite things about an all-inclusive. You can plan every minute of your day—or you can plan nothing at all.
A Vacation That Feels Easy: There is something to be said for not having to figure out where you're going to eat every night. At an all-inclusive resort, you may have several restaurants, casual dining options, snack bars, coffee shops, and poolside food available right on property. And when you are traveling with a family or a group, that simplicity can make a big difference. Everyone doesn't have to agree on what restaurant to drive to or what activity to do next. There are usually plenty of options right where you are.
A More Predictable Vacation Budget: Another reason I love all-inclusive resorts is the ability to pay for much of their vacation upfront. Your accommodations, meals, beverages, and many activities are generally included in the package price, making it easier to understand your vacation investment before you leave home .Of course, “all-inclusive” doesn't mean absolutely everything is included. Depending on the resort, you may have additional expenses for things such as spa treatments, certain premium experiences, off-site excursions, or optional services. This is where having someone who understands the resort—and the differences between its room categories, amenities, location, and inclusions—can be especially valuable.
There Is an All-Inclusive for Every Kind of Traveler. This is where things get really exciting. Want a romantic adults-only getaway? There are beautiful resorts designed with couples in mind. Traveling with kids? Look for resorts with kids'/teens clubs, family activities, water parks, and family-friendly accommodations. Have teenagers? Looking for wellness and relaxation? There are resorts where the spa, fitness, healthy cuisine, and peaceful surroundings are central to the experience. Traveling with several generations? There are resorts that make it possible for grandparents, parents, and kids to enjoy a vacation together while still having space to do their own thing.
The Best Part? You Get to Choose How You Vacation. For me, that's what makes all-inclusive vacations so appealing.
